Novigrad in Istria
Novigrad (Cittanova) is a tourist centre of the riviera expanding from Dajla in the north to the estuary of the river Mirna in the south. The coast is well-indented, with rocky and pebble beaches. Sports and recreational facilities add to an eventful stay - the usual ground and water sports, terraces with live music, rich gastronomic offer, organized excursions, sightseeing.

The old-town part of the city has maintained the mid-age feel. A good secured port made possible for the town to be inhabitated very early. Historically Novigrad is known as a fisher-men and wine-brewing area. In the small port, that is one of the best covered ports on the Istrian coast, a small marina is found with a boat-service and a gas station. Surrounding the town there are rocky beaches with a cristal-clear see and nice landscapes. In the town many typical restaurants and pubs are to be found plus a lot of shops and groceries and a small market-place where fish can be bought.

Owing to the day's length and plenty of clear days throughout the summer it has the longest insolation with a daily average of 10 hours in Istrian seaside resorts. Characteristic winds are "bura" (wind blowing from the north to the south, bringing clear weather), "jugo" (south, warm wind bringing rain) and "maestral" (summer breeze blowing from the land to the sea).

The lowest sea temperature is in March ranging from 9.3 C up to 11.1 C and being the highest in August when it reaches 23.3 C and 24.1 C; salinity amounts approximately to 36 - 38 pro mille.
